Attala County’s labor market area has an estimated 2017 population of 241,101. The Labor Shed population has increased 1.85% since the 2010 census. Population projections to 2022 anticipate a continued increase in population for the Labor Shed of 1.25% . Labor Shed Counties include: Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Holmes, Leake, Madison, Montgomery, Neshoba & Winston

With support from Holmes Community College Attala, Career Technical Center, area School Districts, and local industry and business, Attala County is a 100% certified Work Ready Community. The National Career Readiness Certificate utilizes the WorkKeys exam to measure the job readiness of participants and reward them a certificate of Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum.  This certificate will help individuals seeking employment show he or she possesses the basic skills needed for the job.
